Inspector General: Bailout Could Cost Taxpayers More Than $23 Trillion Dollars

The massive figure comes from what would happen if each department spent 100% of what they could — in other words, if they behave traditionally. Neil Barofsky, assigned watcher of such things, also says in his quarterly report today that “hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars could be lost” due to lack of transparency.
