Major Upset as NFL Player's Union Picks Upshaw Replacement

In what could only be considered a stunning upset, attorney DeMaurice Smith of Washington was named executive director of the NFL Players Association late Sunday night.

Smith, who has no NFL ties and no labor experience, beat favorites Trace Armstrong and Troy Vincent, both of whom played in the league and had served as union president.
