Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers has pleaded guilty of conspiring to commit bribery and faces up to five years in prison. Naturally this is big news in the Detroit papers. The charges arise out of a slude hauling contract which was approved by the Council by a 5-4 vote after Conyers switched her vote.
