Judge: Memo Author John Yoo Can Be Sued by Terrorist Padilla

San Francisco Judge Jeffrey White says government lawyers can be held liable for what the president does on their advice. White ruled Yoo’s memos “set in motion a series of events that resulted in the deprivation of Padilla’s constitutional rights…Like any other government official, government lawyers are responsible for the foreseeable consequences of their conduct.”
