Time Warner Commits to Spinning Off AOL as Public Company

Time Warner Inc. said it aims to spin off AOL as a publicly traded company around year end, as the media giant focuses on its film television and other content-creation businesses. Time Warner has already done the same with its cable-TV business, Time Warner Cable Inc., and had clearly signaled it would shed AOL either in parts or as a whole.
