The Destruction of the Newspaper Could Have Wide Ranging Effects on Communities

The newspaper’s public square, RIP: “Beyond recording the first draft of history, professional journalists are charged with gathering facts from a cross section of the neighborhoods they serve, and then distributing that information to the whole of the community.” But local news isn’t the problem: it’s that national news is now so immediate and free.
