Stocks Collapse Worldwide as Worries Rise

NEW YORK – Investors are absorbing the reality of a deepening global recession — and dumping stocks on exchanges around the world. The major U.S. indexes dropped by well over 3 percent, sliding alongside other countries’ stocks. The Dow Jones industrial average sank near the multi-year lows it reached last November.
